There’s something truly special about a wedding that feels less like an event and more like a gathering of hearts. Sarah and Paul’s celebration was exactly that, a warm, relaxed, and joy-filled afternoon ,surrounded by people who love them. They chose The Old School House in Robin Hood’s Bay as their venue, a charming spot that is usually just used as a hostel but it had everything they needed for their wedding. With a garden that opened out to breathtaking sea views, it was the perfect backdrop for such a meaningful day.

Guests arrived with camping chairs and blankets in tow, ready to witness something truly beautiful: two people, who had each already lived rich and complex lives, choosing to walk forward together. It was informal in the best possible way—the kind of wedding where smiles are easy, heels are left at home, and an atmosphere brimming with laughter and love.
Sarah’s stunning dress was a hidden gem she discovered on eBay. With a few thoughtful alterations, it became her perfect dress—simple, elegant, and completely her. She paired it perfectly with red Converse, a touch of personality that summed up the whole day: relaxed, joyful, and unapologetically true to who they are.

A Love That Found Its Way
Sarah and Paul met later in life, each bringing their own children, their own histories, and their own understanding of what love really means. Their connection was clear from the start—so much so that their second date involved a three-hour car ride, meeting Sarah’s friends at a party, and dancing the night away. As Sarah joked during the ceremony, she was relieved to have met Paul after he’d left his dreadlock phase behind (though he insisted he’s still in a “transitional period” four years later!).
Their relationship blossomed during the quiet intensity of lockdown—cooking, walking, growing their own vegetables. While the world was in chaos, they found peace and joy in each other. It was a time that solidified their bond, showing that even in the most uncertain moments, love can be a steady, grounding force.
The Ceremony
The ceremony began with reflections on love, connection, and second chances. Their vows were a mix of tender promises and personality—Sarah’s were heartfelt and grounded in everyday love, while Paul’s were a delightful, Seuss-style poem that had everyone laughing and cheering.
Their daughters watched as Sarah and Paul spoke words of loyalty, adventure, and partnership. They promised to hold hands through all the joys and trials of life, to keep growing together, and to love one another with gentle persistence.
A special moment came with their wine ceremony, When I asked Sarah & Paul what makes them individually happy, they both told me wine! So what a perfect way to celebrate their marriage with sharing a glass during their wedding ceremony . They each poured in a part of themselves, and as they shared the glass of wine, they symbolized their union—a blend of past experiences and future promises.
For Paul, This was a declaration to the world of the love he feels for Sarah—proud, grateful, and complete. For Sarah, it was about teamwork, support, and building a blended family filled with laughter, adventure, and resilience.

A Toast to the Future
As the sun shimmered on the sea, guests raised glasses and joined in a communal promise, to love and support Sarah and Paul, to guide and ground them, and to cheer them on through all the chapters ahead.
They followed the ceremony with ice cream, pizza, live music, and dancing under the stars, a celebration as joyful and down-to-earth as they are.
There were no dramatic flourishes or over-the-top moments, just a deep, shared sense that love had found its rightful home in two kind, spirited people. Sarah and Paul’s wedding reminded us all that love doesn't have to be loud to be profound. Sometimes, it looks like a borrowed chair, a shared blanket, and the quiet knowledge that you’ve found your person.
Here's to Sarah and Paul. may your life together be full of joy, wine, music, and many new adventures!
