Jodie & Dave’s Laughter-Filled, Heartfelt Ceremony at The Sun Pavilion in Harrogate

On a surprisingly warm October afternoon, I had the absolute joy of officiating the wedding of Jodie and Dave—Who had travelled all the way from Australia to the beautiful Sun Pavilion in Harrogate for their wedding ceremony.

Their ceremony was the perfect combination: completely heartfelt, deeply personal, and full of laughter from start to finish. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, Jodie and Dave stood before them on the terrace of the Sun Pavilion, to share their vows and officially begin their next chapter together as husband and wife.

A Love Story that Started in Berlin

Before they exchanged vows, I had the pleasure of telling their love story, and what a story it is! These two met in Berlin in 2019, when Jodie joined a group tour around Europe and Dave, as fate would have it, was her tour guide. What started as three weeks of travel quickly turned into a lifelong adventure.

From the dramatic Budapest scooter crash, where Jodie broke ribs and still managed to cheer Dave on in his first marathon, to exploring an empty Colosseum during the pandemic, their relationship has always been about embracing adventure, supporting one another, and finding joy in every moment.

And of course, it was in Budapest, on a beautifully nostalgic date that recreated their first one, that Dave proposed at the top of the Ferris wheel (despite his fear of heights!).

The Ceremony

Their ceremony was full of personal touches that made it unmistakably them. They wrote their own heartfelt and hilarious vows that had everyone laughing and tearing up in equal measure.

One of my favourite moments was the sand ceremony. Jodie and Dave each poured coloured sand—yellow and blue—into a single jar to represent their individuality and the beautiful life they’ve built together. I added green sand to symbolise their shared hopes and dreams for the future. Watching those colours blend together was such a moving moment, especially knowing how much adventure and love these two have already shared.

A Kiss, a Certificate, and... a Shot

After exchanging rings and sealing their vows with a kiss, Jodie and Dave invited their mums up to witness the signing of the ceremonial wedding certificate—another lovely nod to the people who shaped them.

Then, in true Jodie-and-Dave style, we wrapped things up with a cheeky surprise: a wedding shot! Their sense of fun and love for a good party is contagious, and ending the ceremony with a Jägerbomb suited them perfectly!

A Celebration of Real Love

Jodie and Dave’s wedding was more than just a ceremony, it was a celebration of a partnership that’s been built on travel, laughter, challenges overcome, and deep admiration for one another. It was one of those days where the love in the room (or terrace) was felt by all , and I feel so lucky to have played a part in it.
