Helpful Information

What is a celebrant?

A celebrant is someone who is trained to create and perform a bespoke and personalised ceremony, such as;

  • Weddings

  • Baby Namings

  • Vow Renewals

  • Funerals

A Celebrant led ceremony is all about freedom. Free from religion/registrar rules, free to choose location, free to choose the wording of your ceremony and free to include religion or spirituality if you wish.

Is it a legal marriage?

This is the question I get asked the most!
Celebrant led weddings are not recognised by law (yet!). However this shouldn't put you off. We do the ceremony as normal, the only difference is you need to register the marriage with the local authority, in exactly the same way you would register a birth for example. We celebrate the day of the wedding, just like we celebrate birthdays and not the day we were registered! This can be done with just two witnesses and no exchange of rings or readings need to take place. You are then free to have a unique and meaningful ceremony at your chosen location.

Where can we have our ceremony and will you travel?

You can have your ceremony anywhere (with landowners permission!). I can do it in your garden, a rustic barn, on top of a mountain, no idea is too silly!

Usually I work around Yorkshire but I will consider travelling anywhere in the UK/ Abroad.
